Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
  • Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.
  • Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.
  • Acts as a patient advocate while utilizing the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patients including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.

UNIT DESCRIPTION:

3C is a 12 bed cardiac step down unit staffing 4 RNs (3:1) and 1-2 Nas (2 on days, one on nights). Main focus is cardiac patients requiring a stepdown level of care (NSTEMI requiring PCI, CHF requiring inotrope therapy, antiarrhythmic drips, etc.) but also takes any medical/surgical overflow requiring step down level of care (except stroke).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • BSN preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED
  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
