Research Assistant I – Robson Lab

Job Description
The RA will work under minimal supervision from PhD level scientists and predoctoral students’ experts in molecular and cellular biology. The incumbent will be involved in different newly funded and exciting projects from the Robson lab. In addition, the Robson Lab provides an environment for scientific growth and learning opportunities. The range of duties from the RA includes but is not limited to: conduct procedures and modify it as needed, develop and/or adapt new protocols according to the literature, contribute to publications and reports, be responsible for maintenance and organization of the lab space.
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a positive attitude and great interpersonal skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Good knowledge and hands-on skills on tissue culture is essential, and knowledge of 3D cell cultures, and single cell-omics is a plus.
- Experience with tissue sample handling and with laboratory automation is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and identify, prioritize, and plan activities necessary to meet projected goals.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan, schedule, and successfully carry out multiple projects at the same time to successful conclusion with minimal supervision.
- Established understanding of good safety practices and a demonstrated history of safe conduct.
- Excellent written and verbal skills required for efficient communication in scientific details in a diversified environment.
- While primarily weekdays, the ability to work flexible hours as experiments demand.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with 0-3 years of experience working in a cell biology laboratory
- Fundamental computer skills, including familiarity with Excel and Word;
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate information verbally and in written form
- Ability to demonstrate effective mental concentration, visual attention and dexterity
- Ability to interact with all individuals in a productive, professional and positive manner to enhance the outcome of the goals of the research program
- Established understanding of good safety practices and a demonstrated history of safe conduct
- Proven ability to organize time effectively and work under time constraints, meet deadlines and prioritize work
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Regular, reliable and consistent attendance
Salary Range (Hourly): $19.54 - $24.42
