Job Description
The Research Associate will work as part of the Healthy Donor Core team to screen donor blood products for possible enrolment into our preferred donor pool. The primary responsibilities will involve the isolation of primary lymphocytes for pre-clinical research, CAR-T cell production, and characterization of various products using flow cytometry and other in-vitro assays. Additional responsibilities include raw material testing and inventory, intra-departmental coordination, data analysis and organization, and effective communication, with the assistance of your manager.
Responsibilities
These may include but are not limited to:
- Cell separation of T cells and other lymphocytes from human blood products using various automated cell processing equipment
- Production and banking of Pan-T and genetically modified human T cells for donor screening studies
- Execution and analysis of multiple flow cytometry-based assays for characterization of cell therapy products and in-vivo tissue samples
- Adherence to paper-based and/or electronic batch records, SOPs, policies, and work instructions per GDP standards to ensure consistency and traceability
- Organization and maintenance of lymphocyte and other raw material inventory
- Collaboration with various departments on raw material inventory, CAR-T cell testing, data compilation, and Pan-T supply
- Performance of batch testing and analysis to ensure quality and lot-to-lot reproducibility of raw materials
- Ensure timely testing and documentation of blood product donor material
- Author and revise SOPs, worksheets, and other documents, as necessary
- Coordination of equipment calibration with Facilities and performance of cleanings on a regular basis
- Communication of results and issues in a concise and timely manner to colleagues
- Assistance in training colleagues as necessary to maintain consistency and quality in data collection and generation
- Data presentation (written and oral) in internal and cross-functional meetings, as required
Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- For Research Associate I: Master’s or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 0-2 years relevant experience in the field of immunology, biology, or related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- For Research Associate II: Master's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 2+ years relevant experience in the field of immunology, biology, or related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Expertise in cell culture and aseptic technique
- Proficiency in multi-parameter flow cytometry and FACS data analysis programs
- Experience with the characterization, culture, expansion, and manipulation of T cells or CAR-T is preferred
- Previous experience with cell separation technologies (e.g. Miltenyi AutoMACS, Prodigy, etc.) is preferred
- Excellent record keeping and data management skills are required
- Ability to organize, communicate, and present data sets to key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communicator with track record of working effectively as an individual contributor and in teams
Research Associate I, Healthy Donor Core Pay Rate: $28.37/hour to $37.44/hour
Research Associate II, Healthy Donor Core Pay Rate: $35.58/hour to $40.76/hour
The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc.
