Job Description
Are you looking for a part-time role to enhance your cell culture skills and gain valuable laboratory experience in the biotech industry? We are seeking a Part-Time Research Associate to support our Research & Development team over the weekends. As a Research Associate, will be responsible for supporting research groups working on the development, testing, and improvement of media products.
This part-time weekend position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience with cell culture techniques, excellent communication, and strong time management skills to work effectively. This is a unique opportunity for a professional looking to contribute to innovative research while enjoying a part-time, flexible work schedule.
Please note that the salary range listed below is based on full-time work. As this is a part-time position, the salary will be pro-rated based on the actual part-time hours worked (estimation of 18 hours per week).
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities- Performing human cell culture maintenance and supporting in-house testing, lab operations, and quality initiatives
- Communicating with and updating team members and stakeholders during the week to organize, prioritize, and schedule duties for independent weekend completion
- Executing general lab procedures and tasks, including but not limited to, calculations, assays, documentation, and troubleshooting without direct supervision
- Mandatory weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) will be required
- BSc (in progress or completed) in Life Sciences or related field (relevant co-op training, directed studies, or equivalent is an asset)
- Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques required. Training in cellular and molecular biology techniques including qPCR, immunocytochemistry, or microscopy would be an asset
- Experience performing independent laboratory research, and coordinating with and supporting multiple collaborators
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both one-on-one and group settings
