Research Compliance Associate

Division: Office of Research

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Location: Houston, TX

Salary Range: $63,052 - $74,178

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Summary

Responsible for the provision of verbal and written information and technical applications in support of best practices in meeting regulations and standards for the conduct of research.

Job Duties

  • Reviews standards and all applicable regulation and accreditation standards concerning animal research.
  • Assures compliance and offers guidance and coordination in regards to regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Maintains and offers ethical and regulatory guidance in the changing research environment.
  • Applies applicable institutional policies and federal, state, and local regulations when regarding the conduct of animal research.
  • Identifies teams to develop BCM procedure and offer guidance for animal research regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Communicates by phone and e-mail to address research protocol questions and concerns.
  • Communicates College policy to departmental personnel, responds to policy questions, and develops internal procedures to ensure compliance with policy.
  • Plans and organizes a variety of projects directly related to the departmental goals.
  • Works with team members to ensure completion of mutual performance goals.
  • Works with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and processes animal research protocols.
  • Utilizes BRAIN, organizes, reviews and approved animal research protocols.
  • Works with designated sub-committees for process improvement or compliance related issues.
  • Participates in semi-annual program reviews and inspections, including facility and laboratory inspections.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with committee work, animal research or laboratory experience.

Work Authorization Requirement:

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
