The ideal candidate conducts comprehensive fire drills, responds to emergencies, and serves as a liaison with regulatory authorities. In addition to supporting the department, the Fire Safety Officer will generally fall into the following groupings, although overlapping of duties may occur as needed:

Qualifications:
State/NPQ Certified Fire Inspector, bachelor's degree in Fire Science or Occupational Health and Life Safety related field, or minimum of two years of fire safety and prevention experience; or combination of education and related experience.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
The ideal candidate conducts comprehensive fire drills, responds to emergencies, and serves as a liaison with regulatory authorities. In addition to supporting the department, the Fire Safety Officer will generally fall into the following groupings, although overlapping of duties may occur as needed:
- Conducts building fire inspections to ensure compliance with applicable Fire Codes.
- Reviews construction and renovation documents for compliance with Fire Safety Codes.
- Accompanies the State Fire Marshal and other officials during scheduled and surprise inspections of university property.
- Responds to fire and smoke emergencies to ensure the safety of faculty, staff, student, and visitors.
- Investigates fire and smoke incidents and prepares reports for appropriate authorities.
- Serves as a liaison between the Fire Marshal's Office and the University.
- Coordinates inspection, maintenance, and servicing of fire extinguishers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
