We are seeking an experienced Scientist to join our U.S. In Vitro Pharmacology group based in Cambridge, MA . This is a lab-based function and will support early research projects across UCB's therapeutic areas of interest through the development, execution, and evaluation of biochemical and biophysical assays.
About the role
You will contribute to early-stage research programs by developing, executing, and interpreting biochemical and biophysical assays. You will support drug discovery projects across therapeutic areas while collaborating with cross-functional partners.

You will work within a multidisciplinary in vitro pharmacology team and collaborate with scientists across research functions to advance discovery programs.

This position's reasonably anticipated base salary range is $99,200 To $130,200 per year. The actual salary offered will consider internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's region, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors.
Internal applicants should be in their current job for at least 12 months, must meet performance standards and are not on formal corrective/disciplinary process (PIP), warning, final warning, or compliance warning letters within the last 12 months. - Develop and perform biochemical and biophysical assays to evaluate or confirm compound MoAs
- Achieve drug project milestones and deliver on objectives through effective internal collaboration
- Drive scientific excellence and technology developments to maximize both current and future impact on cross-functional teams, programs, and projects
- Provide strong scientific thinking, communication, and enhance scientific learnings on multiple projects
Interested? For this role we're looking for the following minimum requirements:
Minimum requirements
- Biochemist/biophysicist with BS + 8, MS +4, or PhD +0-2 years of applicable research experience
- Experience in characterization of small molecule-protein and protein-protein interactions
- Familiarity with biochemical/biophysical methods including SPR, fluorescence spectroscopy, and DEL screening
- Proficiency in common data analysis principles
- Strong communicator with excellent presentation and organizational skills
- Independent scientist who can drive projects with minimal supervision but also thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment
Preferred qualifications
- Industry/biotech focused experience with small molecules/ligands/therapeutics preferred.
- Experience with targeted protein degradation, the ubiquitin proteasome system, and/or E3 ligase biology are a plus.
- Experience in neuromuscular biology, muscle biology, neuroscience, or immunology is a plus.
- Familiarity with medium to high throughput screening and automation is preferred.
