The OpportunityThis position works out of our Madison, Wisconsin location within Corporate Security, supporting Abbott's Diagnostics operations. Our integrated Security Operations team delivers field security and Security Operations Center (SOC) services to protect employees, visitors, facilities, and company assets.

As the Security Supervisor, Security Operations, you'll lead a combined team of Corporate Security Partners (SPs) and Security & Emergency Management (SEM) Analysts. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Security Operations, you will oversee one of three assigned shifts (days, evenings, or nights). The normal schedule is Monday through Friday on the assigned shift, with rotating weekend on-call duty and flexibility for staffing shortages, special events, incident response, and elevated threat conditions.

What You'll Work On

• Lead daily field security and SOC activities for the assigned shift, including patrol and post assignments, access control, alarm and CCTV monitoring, dispatch, situational awareness, calls for service, shift handoffs, and continuity of 24/7 operations.

• Manage workforce administration: prepare and adjust schedules; assign coverage; approve PTO and other time-off requests consistent with policy; monitor attendance; manage timekeeping, including reviewing and approving timecards; and coordinate staffing for absences, overtime, and operational surges.

• Provide supervisory leadership during security, medical, fire and life safety, severe weather, and other critical incidents. Set response priorities; direct field and SOC resources; coordinate emergency communications, notifications, and escalation; and collaborate with Facilities, EHS, law enforcement, and emergency responders as needed.

• Supervise and develop employees through clear expectations, coaching, mentoring, onboarding, recurring training, and cross-training. Conduct formal performance reviews, document performance or attendance concerns, and initiate corrective action consistent with company policy and in coordination with HR and Security leadership.

• Maintain operational readiness, quality, and accountability: review activity and incident reports; ensure compliance with procedures; identify equipment, systems, and staffing issues; support investigations and continuous improvement; and share operational updates. When trained and qualified, perform SP or SEM duties directly as needed for coverage or response.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in security management, criminal justice, emergency management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

• Four or more years of relevant experience in corporate security, security operations centers, emergency management, law enforcement, military service, or another 24/7 operational environment.

• Working knowledge and demonstrated hands-on experience in both field security/SP functions and SOC/SEM operations. Full proficiency in both roles is not required upon appointment; the selected candidate must complete assigned cross-training and achieve the necessary operational proficiency and qualifications in both roles after hire.

• Familiarity with physical security and SOC technologies, including access control, CCTV, alarms, dispatch or incident management, and emergency notification systems, or comparable platforms.

• Strong judgment, communication, documentation, organization, and interpersonal skills; ability to lead under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and use standard Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to work a consistent assigned day, evening, or night shift, normally Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend on-call duty and schedule adjustments for shortages, special events, critical incidents, or elevated threat periods; ability to meet applicable operational requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in security management, emergency management, criminal justice, business, or a related field.

• Two or more years of demonstrated experience leading, coordinating, coaching, or mentoring employees, with the ability to establish priorities, direct work, and hold team members accountable.

• Experience in an integrated field security and SOC team in a laboratory, healthcare, manufacturing, or other complex corporate environment.

• Familiarity with S2 or comparable access control systems, CCTV/video management, CAD or incident records systems, and Everbridge or similar critical event management tools; relevant certifications or training such as ASIS APP/PSP/CPP, ICS/NIMS, or CPR/First Aid/AED.
