Senior Director, Visium HD Program Management

About the role:

10x Genomics is seeking a Senior Director, Visium HD Program Management that will head the supply chain activities and strategic leadership across all spatial (Visium and in situ) products for the global Operations and Manufacturing. This person will be responsible for ensuring the salesforce is properly trained, each product has a solid commercialization plan, and the overall leadership messaging/strategy is cohesive. This role will have deep market insight and intelligence of market drivers, market size, unmet customer needs, and key players that can provide inputs to the global strategy for spatial marketing activities. This role will manage a team of product marketing managers that are supporting the spatial businesses. Collaboration with other parts of the marketing organization will be key to leading and launching products including but not limited to marketing program management, marcomm, product managers, regional marketing, applications, and other sales stakeholders. They will be responsible for shaping the global product marketing strategy with goals and objectives that tie to the success of the business.

In this role, the individual must be a self-starter, strategic thinker, action and output driven, thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities, manage and build high functioning teams, and succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and within customer institutions.

This role will report into the SVP, Operations based in our headquarters in Pleasanton, California.

Qualified candidates must have relevant knowledge and experience in life sciences, diagnostics and serviced markets. A high level of communication skills is required to ensure seamless interaction across the multifunction teams at 10x Genomics. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and driven in implementing and managing world class quality processes that align with and propel business success.

What you will be doing:
  • Have a deep understanding of the global market landscape for Life Science tools and services, in the context of next gen sequencing and adjacent tool adoption.
  • Be highly technically proficient in the current tools, methods, and applications employed by life science researchers
  • Maintain, develop, and communicate a deep knowledge of market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity throughout the organization.
  • Understand the growth of spatial products, customer segments within research, translational and preclinical communities, and publication trends
  • Must have a strategic vision of how 10x Genomics will continue to grow its spatial products in the market and how messaging/positioning resonates with customers and competitors
  • Understand the use cases around how 10x Genomics spatial products are used together
  • Manage a team of product marketer individual contributors across the globe
  • Collaborate with product managers to translate product development outputs into go-to-market and commercial launch strategies
  • Be able to succinctly report the quarterly business performance of the competition, publications, application areas, and segment uptake of spatial products
  • Influence internally and externally and have the skills to navigate and be successful in a matrixed organization.
  • Must be highly execution oriented and drive for continuous improvement which includes collecting feedback from customers & internal stakeholders, analyzing market data and Voice of Customer data to propose new features, products, partnerships, technologies or other ideas that can be leveraged from customer insights, and create segment specific sales and customers enablement tools.
  • Partner with the Sales organization as needed to identify emerging market development opportunities.
  • Strong and effective leadership experience with the passion to inspire, motivate, coach, and nurture a team. Attract, retain, and develop talent.

To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Track record of success in launching product(s) within a similar life science organization in a fast moving environment and market
  • PhD/MS degree in a relevant scientific field or MBA with significant experience in life science industry or the equivalent
  • Extensive domain knowledge and expertise in life sciences, biotech, and pharma
  • Must be able to build credibility and relationships across all functions and levels at the organization and with customers
  • Must be collaborative and a team player who knows how to leverage other functions of the organization
  • Must be able to mentor, coach, and motivate employees and direct reports
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication skills
  • High level of organization, multi-tasking, and attention to detail
  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and globally up to 25% of the time.

  • PhD degree in a relevant scientific field
  • 5-10 years of industrial experience desired
