About the role:

The Senior Manager of Maintenance & Utilities is a strategic operations leader responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of all manufacturing and facility assets. This role owns the end-to-end maintenance and utilities strategy, driving equipment uptime, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and team capability development.

This leader partners cross-functionally to enable uninterrupted manufacturing operations while continuously advancing preventative maintenance, TPM initiatives, capital improvements, and cost control.

How will you contribute:

Operational & Asset Excellence

  • Provide enterprise-level oversight to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all manufacturing, packaging, and facility utility equipment across shifts.
  • Establish and achieve aggressive uptime, downtime, and reliability targets aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are executed safely, compliantly, and in accordance with OEM specifications, OSHA requirements, and cGMP standards.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex equipment issues, root cause investigations, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).

Maintenance Strategy & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead the Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs, ensuring robust documentation, work-order discipline, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Leverage CMMS data and KPI analytics to optimize asset performance, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve maintenance efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, and reliability engineering efforts across manufacturing and facilities.
  • Lead or support capital projects, engineering changes, facility expansions, and construction initiatives from concept through execution.

People Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing maintenance team across all shifts, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.
  • Own workforce planning, scheduling, skills development, and succession planning for maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure team competency through structured training in safety, GMP, compliance, and advanced technical skills.
  • Set the standard for leadership behavior, collaboration, employee engagement, and open communication across the organization.

Financial & Vendor Management
  • Own maintenance and utilities budgets, controlling costs while ensuring asset reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and track departmental KPIs and maintenance-related expenses.
  • Oversee maintenance inventory strategy, ensuring availability of spare, repair, and critical parts while minimizing excess.
  • Research, source, and negotiate equipment, parts, services, and facility improvements; generate purchase orders and manage vendor relationships.
  • Oversee external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to contract expectations.

Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (cGMP, OSHA, 21 CFR Part 111).
  • Partner with Quality, EH&S, and Operations during audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions.
  • Lead safety initiatives, conduct routine inspections, support incident investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Reinforce a proactive safety culture where employees understand and follow all equipment and workplace safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Journeyman certification, technical degree, or college degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Dietary Supplement cGMPs and FDA 21 CFR Part 111
  • Demonstrated experience with PM programs, CMMS systems, TPM, and maintenance KPIs
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and capital or engineering projects

Work Environment:
  • May involve exposure to allergens such as Soy, Wheat, Fish, Shellfish, Milk, Egg, Tree Nuts and Sesame.
  • Office setting where you will need to communicate through phone, email, and Teams meetings.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Personal Protective Equipment provided as necessary.
  • Work environment may involve exposure to chemicals, solutions, detergents, or solvents that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment.

Base Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Holidays, Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
