POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, Sr. Director of Commercial Development will play a critical leadership role at the intersection of technical expertise, commercial execution, and strategic growth. This position will drive proposal excellence, strengthen opportunity qualification and pricing discipline, and serve as a senior technical-commercial partner to Business Development. The role is highly cross-functional, supporting Business Development, Marketing, and Operations.

The role is highly cross-functional, supporting Business Development, Marketing, and Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Business Development & Client Engagement
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) on client calls or in client meetings with BD to enhance credibility and increase win probability for strategic opportunities.
- Act as a senior technical-commercial partner on priority client engagements, diligence discussions, and complex pursuits.
- Support Business Development leadership in advancing and closing high-value opportunities.
Proposal Strategy & Execution
- Own end-to-end proposal strategy, including technical positioning, messaging, and pricing strategy.
- Ensure proposal quality, consistency, and efficiency through standardized processes and oversight.
Commercial Strategy & Deal Structuring
- Serve as the authority on deal qualification, pricing strategy, risk assessment, and contract structuring.
- Establish and enforce disciplined opportunity qualification frameworks to prioritize high value opportunities.
- Develop pricing strategies aligned with technical scope, operational realities, and market dynamics.
Commercial Operations & Systems
- Oversee and optimize commercial operations, including Salesforce and related tools, to improve pipeline visibility, forecasting, and execution.
- Leverage AI tools to enhance proposal development, knowledge management, and commercial workflows.
- Drive process improvements across the commercial lifecycle.
Partnerships & Market Expansion
- Manage relationships with external partners and subcontractors, including identifying opportunities for expansion.
- Build and scale partnership-driven revenue streams.
Marketing Alignment & Thought Leadership
- Align technical messaging with Business Development and Marketing to reinforce Pyramid's strategic differentiation.
- Contribute to thought leadership through the development of technical content, white papers, and industry-facing materials.
- Represent Pyramid Pharma Services as a senior technical and commercial voice at industry events, conferences, and client forums.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Provide insights on market trends, competitive positioning, and client needs to inform commercial strategy.
- Support development of long-term growth strategies and target market prioritization.
EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in scientific discipline (advanced degree preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in CDMO, pharmaceutical, or biotech environments with a strong mix of technical and commercial exposure
- Demonstrated experience in proposal strategy, pricing, and deal structuring.
- Strong understanding of drug product development and manufacturing (sterile, fill/finish, and/or lyophilization preferred)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Travel approximately 25% of the time (including overnight stays) to meet with clients, scout venues, and oversee event execution.
