Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Medical Affairs Operations, is responsible for driving operational efficiency and excellence within the Medical Affairs department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills, process improvement expertise including data analytics, and a solid understanding of medical affairs functions including budget planning and execution activities.
Performance Objectives:
- Execute process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Medical Affairs financial and budgetary operations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices as directed by senior leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Clinical, Finance, Commercial, Compliance, etc.) to support alignment and execution of tactical plans as budgeted in annual planning process.
- Manage and optimize medical affairs systems and tools, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Oversee project management activities to track alignment to budget and forecasting.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), providing actionable insights and recommendations for enhancements.
- In collaboration with senior leadership, facilitate budget planning and resource allocation for Medical Affairs projects as well as working closely with finance, procurement, and business owners to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual financial objectives.
- Facilitate training and change management activities related to new processes, or technologies, associated with the scope of responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant internal policies and external regulations associated with this role .
Education/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences with budgetary, accounting experience, or a business/finance degree, Master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and project management (PMP certification a plus) .
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in operational role or related field within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare sector.
- Understanding of Medical Affairs functions, including medical information, scientific communications, medical education, and compliance.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., Veeva, MS Office Suite, project management tools, SAP, and AI proficiency).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset with ability to perform retrospective analyses to identify and leverage lessons learned.

- Good understanding of accounting principles.
- Previous experience working on the development of MSAs, SOW, and managing departmental budgets.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $186,150- $219,000 annually. This pay range is based on the market range for positions of this type. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including annual bonus/incentive comp plans, potential long term incentive plan, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate/employee receives an offer of employment.
