NSF is in search of a Technician II in the Extractions Lab with under supervision, perform laboratory procedures in an accurate and timely manner and continue to expand skill base.
In the Extractions Lab team members work both independently and with a team to perform extraction methods on various types of water samples. This role requires strong focus and attention to detail, as well as clear communication to the lab areas we support.

SHIFT: Day shift (7-3:30), Mid shift (11-7:30), Weekend shift (Tue-Sat)

Responsibilities

  • With minimal direction, perform basic laboratory tasks.
  • Perform all applicable corporate and laboratory quality control procedures and policies.
  • Perform assigned methods for varied product types.
  • Prepare all records (electronic data, folders and forms) in a timely, thorough and neat manner.
  • Use the laboratory information systems and sample tracking procedures, as applicable.
  • Using MSDS's work with various chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases.
  • Provide input to SOPs for work area.
  • Crosstrain as appropriate in order to alleviate the workload when high sample volumes are experienced.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Suggest, test, document, and help implement process improvements.
  • Follow all safety and ethics requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Support the team with weekly task rotations and assigned areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma/GED plus experience or demonstrated knowledge of work area required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize work and maintain workflow with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Four-year degree in physical science with one year of applicable laboratory experience.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to follow directions from multiple sources.
  • Familiarity with quality procedures.
  • Familiarity with general laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Experience with common laboratory tools (balances, pipettors, syringes, etc).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Periodic light physical effort required (moving items 5 to 10lbs from one area to another).
  • Standing for long periods of time is necessary regularly.
  • Working with various allergens, organic solvents, chemical analytes, reagents, acids, and bases is necessary.
  • Safety glasses must be worn at all times in lab areas. Adequate PPE required (lab coats, gloves as applicable).
  • No colognes or other strongly scented personal care products are to be worn in the lab.
