Job Description

Microbiology Group position includes training for specific skills and growth opportunities. Looking for flexibility to work Tuesday-Saturday day shift 7:00am-3:30pm.

Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
  • With minimal direction, perform required laboratory tasks by strictly following established protocols and procedures.
  • Perform all applicable corporate and laboratory quality control procedures and policies.
  • Perform assigned methods for varied product types.
  • Prepare all records (electronic data, folders and forms) in a timely, thorough and neat manner.
  • Use the laboratory information systems and sample tracking procedures, as applicable.
  • Using MSDS's work with various microorganisms, chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases.
  • Provide input to SOP's for work area.
  • Cross-train as appropriate in order to alleviate the workload when high sample volumes are experienced.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Suggest, test, document, and help implement process improvements.
  • Follow all safety and ethics requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED plus experience or demonstrated knowledge of work area required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize work and maintain workflow with minimal direction.
  • Ability to use light and fluorescent microscopes on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work with food and dietary supplement samples containing allergens, including but not limited to whey, soy, nuts, gluten, etc.
  • Knowledge of aseptic and bacterial plating techniques and handling microorganisms safely.
  • Ability to work on a rotation schedule.
  • Experience with common laboratory tools (balances, pipettors, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets, etc).
