Principal Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- With minimal direction, perform required laboratory tasks by strictly following established protocols and procedures.
- Perform all applicable corporate and laboratory quality control procedures and policies.
- Perform assigned methods for varied product types.
- Prepare all records (electronic data, folders and forms) in a timely, thorough and neat manner.
- Use the laboratory information systems and sample tracking procedures, as applicable.
- Using MSDS's work with various microorganisms, chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases.
- Provide input to SOP's for work area.
- Cross-train as appropriate in order to alleviate the workload when high sample volumes are experienced.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Suggest, test, document, and help implement process improvements.
- Follow all safety and ethics requirements.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED plus experience or demonstrated knowledge of work area required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to organize work and maintain workflow with minimal direction.
- Ability to use light and fluorescent microscopes on a regular basis.
- Ability to work with food and dietary supplement samples containing allergens, including but not limited to whey, soy, nuts, gluten, etc.
- Knowledge of aseptic and bacterial plating techniques and handling microorganisms safely.
- Ability to work on a rotation schedule.
- Experience with common laboratory tools (balances, pipettors, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets, etc).
