As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the VPHR partners closely with business leaders to align talent strategy, culture, and organizational effectiveness with business objectives. This role leads the HR Business Partner model, oversees core HR operations, and ensures compliance in a highly regulated clinical laboratory environment.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the VPHR partners closely with business leaders to align talent strategy, culture, and organizational effectiveness with business objectives. This role leads the HR Business Partner model, oversees core HR operations, and ensures compliance in a highly regulated clinical laboratory environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the ELT, providing strategic guidance on people, culture, and organizational effectiveness.
- Build and maintain credibility, trust, and strong working relationships with leaders, managers, and employees
- Establish, refine, and scale the HR Business Partner function to proactively support leaders and the business.
- Oversee all core HR programs, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, compliance, learning and development, benefits, and leave administration.
- Lead the design and implementation of a company-wide compensation philosophy and compensation programs.
- Partner with the Board of Directors as it relates to executive compensation.
- Partner with Finance and executive leadership on workforce planning, headcount growth, and organizational design as the company scales.
- Strengthen performance management, goal-setting, and leadership accountability across the organization.
- Select, design, and administer the company's employee engagement survey; analyze results and lead action planning.
- Ensure effective use and continuous improvement of the UKG HRIS, leveraging data and metrics to drive decision-making.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, particularly in a multi-state workforce.
- Develop and manage the HR budget, including vendor and consultant partnerships.
- Champion a values-driven, inclusive, and high-performance culture aligned with the company's scientific mission.
- Maintain deep understanding of the business, including revenue growth, investment expectations, and regulatory considerations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for HR team members: HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, and a Recruiter.
- Oversees the daily operations of the HR department.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and develops HR staff as the function scales.
- Delivers constructive feedback, performance evaluations, and handles discipline and termination in accordance with company policy.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated ability to build trust, credibility, and strong relationships in organizations across all levels.
- Strategic HR leadership experience within growing, complex, and regulated environments.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align people strategy to financial and operational objectives.
- Deep knowledge of employment law, employee relations, and multi-state compliance.
- Experience designing and implementing compensation frameworks and performance management systems.
- Ability to lead both in-person and remote team members effectively.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and change management skills.
- Excellent communication, influence, and executive presence.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (UKG preferred) and modern HR technologies.
- High degree of integrity, judgment, and discretion in handling confidential information.
Education, Certifications, and Licensures
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including senior leadership responsibilities.
- Experience leading HR in a growth-stage organization strongly preferred.
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred
