About the Role:

The Woodyard Scaler is responsible for weighing, scaling, and processing inbound wood truck loads, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation. This role provides administrative and clerical support for the wood yard operations, including ticket management, shipment tracking, and maintaining yard/office records.

The position requires strong attention to detail, basic computer skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with drivers and internal stakeholders while ensuring compliance with safety and wood specifications.

What You're Going to Do:

• Weigh and scale inbound loads of purchased wood using the scale system (e.g., Scale Boss).
• Observe and inspect incoming loads for specification compliance and safety requirements.
• Process and manage tickets, loads and shipments in yard tracking system (e.g., Yard Boss).
• Maintain accurate records, files, logs, and VPP documentation.
• Provide general administrative and clerical support for the wood yard operations.
• Answer phones, take messages, and relay information accurately and timely.
• Maintain office supplies inventory and support filing/organization processes.
• Keep the scale house clean and organized, including light cleaning tasks.
• Support internal yard activities as needed, including basic assistance to sales/operations.

What We Expect from You:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted).
• Previous experience is not required (training can be provided).
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written and listening).
• Ability to work with computers for data entry and documentation (basic PC skills required).
• Ability to understand and follow procedures related to wood scaling and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Safety mindset and ability to comply with yard safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in wood yard operations, scaling, shipping/receiving, or similar administrative role.
• Experience with heavy equipment environment (not operating necessarily) and/or basic maintenance exposure.
• Prior experience using ticket/shipping systems, scale systems, or yard management tools.
