Lay’s Flavor Swap, the beloved annual tradition, is making a return for its third consecutive year, and this time, it’s introducing a delicious surprise: Lay’s Kettle Cooked Ruffles All Dressed, an iconic and innovative flavor joining the exciting summer lineup.

Taking inspiration from the renowned Ruffles All Dressed chip flavor that has captured the hearts of many Canadians, Lay’s has crafted a delectable fusion that marries the bold tanginess, savory richness and subtle sweetness into a single bite. The chips are “dressed” with a medley of flavors — specifically, four beloved ones: ketchup, sour cream and onion, BBQ and salt and vinegar.

The allure of Ruffles All Dressed made its debut in the US in 2015, gaining a dedicated following before bidding farewell to store shelves in 2021. Since then, there have been calls across social media platforms, as well as dedicated Reddit discussions focused on the quest to locate this sought-after flavor within the US.

Now, Lay’s is bringing back the magic of the Flavor Swap, not only with the introduction of Lay’s Kettle Cooked Ruffles All Dressed, but also by resurrecting some unforgettable classics from its flavorful past:

  • Lay’s Cheetos Cheese Flavored: The irresistible cheesiness of Cheetos meets the unmatched crispiness of Lay’s chips;
  • Lay’s Doritos Cool Ranch Flavored: Lay’s infuses its iconic potato chips with the legendary Doritos Cool Ranch flavor, creating a sensational mashup; and
  • Lay’s Wavy Funyuns Onion Flavored: The tantalizing flavor of Funyuns onion rings finds a new home on Lay’s Wavy potato chips.

History of Lay’s Flavor Swap

When the topic of snacks is mentioned, the image of a bag of potato chips stamped with the iconic red and white logo with the name “Lay’s” is likely one of the first things that comes to mind. Lay’s not only stands out as an iconic representation of potato chips, but also reigns supreme among its chip counterparts, trailing only Doritos in popularity.

However, even a chip brand as renowned as Lay’s thrives on innovation, continuously tantalizing its fans’ palates. Whether it’s the array of flavors that have ignited online conversations — such as those inspired by dinner dishes (like deep dish pizza and lobster rolls) — or the revival of the Flamin’ Hot variety, the potato chip brand fearlessly ventured beyond its usual suspects when it launched the first Flavor Swap flavors in 2021.

Elevating the snack experience to new heights, Lay’s parent company, PepsiCo, created an exciting twist within its Frito-Lay division. A symphony of flavors ensued as popular snacks underwent a transformation, culminating in the launch of a novel Lay’s chip lineup.

This innovation introduced three chip varieties, ingeniously blending the flavors of three distinct snacks into the realm of potato chips. While the initial Flavor Swap collection hit grocery shelves for a limited period, last year’s entire array has made its triumphant return, accompanied by a sought-after new addition this year.

Beginning this month, the quartet of Lay’s Flavor Swap offerings will be hitting the shelves of retailers across the nation. Shoppers can find Lay’s Cheetos Cheese and Lay’s Doritos Cool Ranch in 7.75-ounce bags, while Lay’s Kettle Cooked Ruffles All Dressed will be available in 8-ounce bags. For those seeking a perfectly portioned treat, Lay’s Wavy Funyuns Onion comes in convenient 7.5-ounce bags.
