The expansive growth and regulation of temperature-sensitive distribution has led to an overwhelming number of thermal packaging solutions available on the market today and choosing the best fit has become increasingly challenging. Protecting temperature-sensitive products is paramount but overdesigning a packaging solution that is able to withstand 100% of any possible weather event results in bulky, heavy and expensive systems. Under-designing systems with low component costs will run the risk of experiencing failures in transit. Choosing the proper passive thermal packaging will allow efficiencies and accuracy in maintaining temperature and optimizing spend.
The growth of cold chain distribution, especially with biologics and biosimilars, is expected to continue to grow exponentially. Increasing global regulations have led to greater scrutiny of the temperature-sensitive supply chain process including packaging, temperature monitoring and logistics, which can result in higher distribution costs. Protecting these high-value products properly and at the lowest total cost has become imperative to maintain or grow market share in the competitive global marketplace.
Solutions should consider several factors including thermal performance, system cost, freight and payload optimization, pack-out simplicity and physical performance. Another factor to consider is the environmental impact of shippers and could a reusable shipper option be a viable and cost-effective solution for cold chain distribution?
This webinar will provide life science organizations insights into which solution is right for their clinical trial, regardless of the market or distribution segment. The presenters will evaluate temperature-sensitive packaging and best practices across several critical categories.
