Dr. Karen Hecht is the scientific affairs manager at AstaReal Inc. Dr. Hecht worked as a postdoctoral associate in algal molecular biology at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. She earned her Ph.D. in Biology at the University of Pittsburgh.

Bill Bookout is president of the National Animal Supplement Council, the world’s leading trade association representing manufacturers and suppliers of supplements for dogs, cats and horses. He is recognized as a leading expert on regulatory issues surrounding animal health and nutritional supplements, has testified on behalf of the industry at FDA public meetings, and has participated in countless educational programs, legal forums, regulatory trainings, trade events and other professional meetings. Prior to his work with NASC, Mr. Bookout held executive positions in the animal health and human medical device industries.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical sciences from the University of Wyoming and his MBA from the Pepperdine University Presidents and Key Executives program.
Dr. Barbara Royal, DVM, CVA, Veterinarian, author, lecturer
Dr. Barbara Royal is a Chicago veterinarian, IVAS certified acupuncturist, author and lecturer with extensive experience in veterinary care, including zoo, marine and wildlife animals, nutrition, acupuncture, emergency medicine, pathology, conventional practices, herbal remedies, physical rehabilitation techniques and alternative treatments.
Dr. Royal was past president of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (ahvma.org). Author of The Royal Treatment, A Natural Approach to Wildly Healthy Pets, and several other books, she is also the founder and owner of The Royal Treatment Veterinary Center in Chicago, the Royal Animal Health University and co-owner of the Animal Diet Formulator.
Dr. Amanda Bradbery, Assistant Professor, Equine Nutrition and Physiology, Montana State University
Dr. Bradbery’s research efforts focus on nutritional strategies to improve horse health and performance longevity, including the impact of nutraceuticals on exercise performance, growth and development, and prenatal nutrition strategies for offspring metabolic health.
Dr. Bradbery’s main research interests include:
