The AMCP Format has become the gold standard for communicating the clinical and economic value of drugs, tests, and devices to healthcare decision makers. Version 4.0 is the newest iteration of the Format , last updated in 2012. An understanding of the Format is central for dossier developers to produce a dossier that meets the evidentiary requirements for formulary consideration in a transparent manner and also promotes a meaningful dialogue between manufacturers and healthcare decision makers.

Speakers

Evelyn Sarnes, PharmD, MPH, Senior Director Medical Communications, Xcenda

Evelyn Sarnes, PharmD, MPH, is a Senior Director and leads the Medical Communications Team in Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research(GHEOR) Scientific Consulting at Xcenda. In this role, she leads HEOR engagements including development and strategic review of Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Formulary dossiers, global value dossiers, comparative effectiveness research studies, systematic literature reviews, and scientific publications. Dr. Sarnes also has expertise in designing and developing managed markets strategy and tools, and in gathering payer insights to inform both market access and HEOR initiatives and tactics. Dr. Sarnes’ experience ranges across multiple therapeutic areas, including specialty Pharmaceuticals/orphan diseases, oncology, and neurology. She has authored a variety of scientific publications, appearing in the Archives of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Managed Care, and Current Medical Research and Opinion, among others.
Dr. Sarnes received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. Her post-doctoral training includes an Outcomes Research Fellowship at the University of South Florida and Applied Health Outcomes. Dr. Sarnes also received a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of South Florida College of Public Health. She currently serves as adjunct faculty for the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and is a member of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research and the American Medical Writers Association.

Kim Boswell, MD, Director, Medical Communications, Xcenda

Kimberly Boswell, MD, is a Director with the Medical Communications team in Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (GHEOR) Scientific Consulting at Xcenda. In this role, Dr. Boswell leads and conducts national and global HEOR engagements, including formulary dossiers and global value dossiers, scientific publications, slide decks, publications strategy, and field HEOR consulting. She also has expertise in risk management and compendia analyses.
Dr. Boswell has over 10 years of experience delivering value to key healthcare stakeholders through scientific communications. Her experience crosses a broad range of therapeutic areas, including cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, pulmonary, rheumatology, and urology. She has authored a variety of scientific publications appearing in Haemophilia, Journal of Vascular Surgery, Journal of Opioid Management, American Health & Drug Benefits, The American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits, Current Medical Research & Opinion, Drug Benefit Trends, and others.

Before joining Xcenda, Dr. Boswell was a Medical Director at a Pharmaceutical ad agency where she developed and directed content for scientific publications, medical education programs, and promotional materials. She played an integral role in the development of speakers bureau content, national and regional advisory board meetings, as well as strategic and tactical business planning.

Dr. Boswell received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Her Bachelor of Science was completed at Stetson University. Dr. Boswell currently serves as adjunct faculty for the University of Florida College of Pharmacy and is a member of the American Medical Writers Association.
