Meet Xtalks Featured Community Member Kellie Giles, MS, PMP, Director of Clinical Operations at Takeda, whose journey from the bench to clinical leadership is as inspiring as it is impactful. Explore her story below.
What Are Your Proudest Life Science Achievements?
I started at the bench as an mAb technician. I went on to work in drug discovery, transitioning into clinical research leadership. Contributing to the development of a novel primer and going through the patent filing process as part of the team and participating in NDA and BLA submissions leading to the launch of new therapies are career highlights reflecting my journey across the drug development spectrum.
What Are Your Day-to-Day Job Highlights?
I thrive at the intersection of operational detail and scientific strategy. Aligning cross-functional teams and solving complex challenges energizes me, especially knowing our efforts can positively impact patients and their loved ones. Managing and mentoring people are also highlights of my job.
What Are Your Favorite Life Science Innovations?
I’m inspired by innovations that merge biology and technology, including the integration of genomics and precision medicine in trials and use of digital twins to optimize designs. Any tools that move us from reactive to proactive care of patients are my favorites as they will make the greatest difference.
What Is Your Vision for the Future of the Industry?
A future where therapies become faster to develop with high precision and global inclusiveness, and the patient burden is practically nonexistent.
