This role partners closely with firmware, software, hardware, and test teams to deliver robust, compliant, and scalable embedded systems while supporting toolchain optimization, automation, and secure development practices.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $127,680.00 - $239,400.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The DevSecOps Architect - Toolchain Support & Consulting contributes to the design, development, and maintenance of embedded firmware solutions across Agilent's product portfolio. This role partners closely with firmware, software, hardware, and test teams to deliver robust, compliant, and scalable embedded systems while supporting toolchain optimization, automation, and secure development practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute across all phases of the product development lifecycle, including concept, design, implementation, verification, and release
- Analyze and translate system-level, hardware, electronics, and customer requirements into clear technical specifications and interface definitions
- Design, develop, and unit test embedded firmware modules in collaboration with firmware and software architects
- Support development and automation of verification strategies by partnering with test engineers on test cases and frameworks
- Develop and maintain technical documentation in accordance with QMS processes and applicable regulatory standards
- Debug complex system issues and perform structured root cause analysis
- Partner with architecture teams to resolve high-impact design and development challenges for new and existing products
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, software, and test disciplines
- Coordinate with other functions, such as manufacturing, marketing, and customer support, as needed
- Support design transfer activities and assist with field or service escalations when required
- Monitor industry technology trends and assess opportunities to improve development efficiency, including appropriate use of automation and AI-enabled tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
- 8+ years of relevant experience in embedded or firmware development
- Demonstrated experience contributing to architecture, design, and implementation of embedded systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a cross-functional team environment
- Experience participating in at least one full product development lifecycle (concept through release preferred)
Required Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ for RTOS-based embedded systems
- Experience with embedded communication interfaces such as SPI and I2C
- Working knowledge of object-oriented design principles
- Proficiency with Git or similar source control systems
- Ability to interpret schematics, data sheets, and hardware documentation for microprocessors, peripherals, and related components
- Hands-on experience using laboratory test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, debuggers, and protocol analyzers
- Working proficiency in Python for tooling, automation, and test workflows
- Experience developing software and documentation within regulated environments (e.g., FDA, IEC 62304, or similar quality systems)
Preferred / Additional Skills
- Exposure to analog electrical engineering concepts, including signal conditioning, ADC/DAC interfaces, and sensor or detector electronics
- Experience with CAN-based systems
- Familiarity with secure development practices, CI/CD pipelines, or DevSecOps tooling in embedded environments
