Reporting to the Vice President, Environmental, Health & Safety, the Director of Product Environmental Compliance leads the strategy and execution of product environmental compliance (PEC) and product stewardship across a diverse, global portfolio of products and operations. This role drives consistent, scalable compliance programs, assesses regulatory risk, and partners cross-functionally to ensure products meet global environmental requirements.

Successful candidates bring a proven record of establishing and scaling consistent best practices across diverse business models, industries, and product families-translating complex, evolving regulations into clear structure, actionable programs, and measurable results. With a collaborative, enterprise mindset, this leader guides organizational assessments and shapes forward-looking compliance strategies that enable responsible, compliant products worldwide.

This position may be located in Waltham, MA, with a flexible work environment, or remote in the United States, with approximately 15-20% travel for internal and periodic external engagements.

In this role, a typical day will look like:
  • Lead enterprise-wide Product Environmental Compliance and product stewardship strategy in partnership with procurement, operations, legal, sustainability, and engineering.
  • Develop, implement, and drive adoption of Product Environmental Compliance programs, tools, systems, and standard processes aligned with enterprise operating systems.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of global Product Environmental Compliance regulations and directives (including RoHS, REACH, WEEE, Prop 65, TSCA, Packaging, Circular Economy, GHS, and dangerous goods) and assess applicability and impact to products.
  • Lead regulatory risk assessments, communicate regulatory trends, and elevate organizational risk awareness.
  • Establish, communicate, and monitor Product Environmental Compliance KPIs; leverage data and analytics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Design and execute global Product Environmental Compliance compliance and risk assessments; ensure audits are effective, value-added, and aligned with best practices, using findings to drive improvements.
  • Support customer and supplier Product Environmental Compliance information requests and partner with sustainability teams on ESG-related data collection.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable experience; background in technical, scientific, or business disciplines.
  • 10+ years of experience in product environmental compliance or product stewardship, within the manufacturing of analytical instrumentation, industrial hardware or electronic equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading global Product Environmental Compliance programs covering materials restrictions, extended producer responsibility, regulatory reporting, and related product documentation.
  • Experience establishing and managing Product Environmental Compliance KPIs, audits, and risk assessments at scale.
  • Prior experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams across regions.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $175,000 - $200,000 USD per year.
