Job Description
The Tracking Specialist provides operational support with respect to all sample tracking technologies provided by LabConnect. The Tracking Specialist will manage project activities to our client's specification, ensuring quality deliverables on time and within budget by performing the following duties.
This role will be performed onsite at our Johnson City, TN facility. The schedule will be M-F and require one Saturday per quarter.

Responsibilities
- Ensures that sample tracking data is entered correctly, and on time, into the appropriate sample tracking technology platform.
- Works with courier to troubleshoot shipping issues
- Manages clinical trial event schedules to ensure patient compliance with visit schedules and escalates as necessary.
- Manages queries related to demographics and/or sample tracking discrepancies.
- Performs updates to sample data, and performs data QC, as needed.
- Works with Biospecimen Operations departments to resolve sample discrepancies.
- Monitors site compliance with use of sample tracking technologies and escalates as needed.
- Coordinates sample shipments with the clinical trial site and/or client, as needed.
- Assists in providing sample tracking metrics, as requested.
- Performs QC of protocol related documents before they are released to the client, as requested.
- Provides study updates to designated personnel as requested (queries, site issues, sample issues, tracking issues, digital pen installations, shipment tracking information, etc.).
- Interfaces with investigator sites, project management, reference laboratories, customer service, shipping, and data management personnel regarding sample tracking operations.
- Serves as reference point for clinical investigators; exhibiting a thorough understanding of tracking technologies.
- Performs other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned.
- Ensures any out-of-scope work is submitted or communicated for add fees or OSD/budget inclusion and invoiced appropriately for work performed during the invoice review process if applicable.
Education and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (or GED) required.
- Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree with +2 years clinical or laboratory experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Must possess excellent organization and interpersonal skills, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
- The ability to navigate software and databases is a must.
- Experience in customer service and Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, is preferred.
- Very high attention to detail and excellent multi-tasking skills are required for success in this position.
Language Ability
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
