What Are Your Proudest Life Science Achievements?

A previous Xtalks speaker on site start-up efficiencies; former Diversity Lead at ICON; creator of two global site alliance programs at CROs to promote collaboration and faster trial start-up; author of two published articles in the SCRS Insite Journal on Sponsor/CRO and site collaboration and study start-up optimization; interviewed by the SCRS Collaborate Forward Team for my role in establishing innovative site relationship strategies at TD2 Oncology (a CRO).

What Are Your Day-to-Day Job Highlights?

Development and implementation of corporate and site SOPs, Work Instructions and Templates for process compliance and optimization; conducting in-depth gap analyses to facilitate network capability enhancements and improvements where needed; leading site technology implementation and training; overseeing Regulatory and Quality KPI creation and execution within the corporation and at the site level; spearheading quality control and quality assurance processes for the corporation; leading the performance of regulatory and quality teams; and collaborating with the Executive Team on regulatory and operational strategy and structure.

What Are Your Favorite Life Science Innovations?

The use of AI to optimize clinical operations processes and streamline the patient journey has been an exciting innovation to watch. Additionally, the use of mRNA technology to treat not only infectious diseases through vaccines but also other complex and rare diseases is of great interest to me based on my background in both vaccines and oncology. Lastly, CRISPR-based innovations in DNA modification to treat diseases at the genetic level are truly revolutionary.

What Is Your Vision for the Future of the Industry?

I see the regulation and utilization of AI pushing forward our overall technological and operational capabilities exponentially as we move forward. Higher complexity oncology trials, especially in radiopharmaceuticals, will enable us to extend the quality of life for our patients as we study these treatment options further. With the implementation of ICH GCP E6 (R3), the focus on designing quality protocols (and collaborating with Investigators to do so) with built-in risk mitigation strategies and better process oversight will allow for a better patient journey, better patient safety within complex trials and will lead to more marketable drugs.
