Say hello to Xtalks Featured Community Member Pablo Mugüerza, a medical translator, educator and author who has developed a digital EN-Spanish medical dictionary with more than 13,000 entries. Read how his work is supporting global knowledge exchange in medicine across oncology, genetics and emerging therapeutic areas.
What Are Your Proudest Life Science Achievements?
I have created the first digital-born EN>SPA dictionary of medical terms, with more than 13,000 entries (2026) and counting! I am the author of an outstanding manual on EN>ES clinical trial protocols and am now working on the 3rd edition, which will be revolutionary!
What Are Your Day-to-Day Job Highlights?
Beyond the dictionary, which requires my curation 24/7, I translate, interpret, teach, train, engage in public speaking and mentor people, always about life sciences, particularly medicine. I also curate my Facebook page, “Traducción médica aplicada,” with almost 13,000 followers (November 2025).
What Are Your Favorite Life Science Innovations?
Today: everything about pancreatic cancer, particularly BRCA1/2-related genes. But, in more general terms, those related to cancer treatment, oncology, genetics, immunology and immunotherapy.
What Is Your Vision for the Future of the Industry?
It cannot be better. AI has almost replaced my role as a translator, but every day I realize what an incredible tool it is for life sciences. In a world threatened at all levels, I remain intrinsically optimistic about life sciences!
