Trained in psychiatry at Boston University Medical Center, he holds his M.D. from Bordeaux University and St. Joseph University School of Medicine.

Brian Murphy, PhD, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Cumulus Neuroscience Ltd, Cumulus Neuro
Brian is a computational neuroscientist who is an expert in brain-reading technology, using machine learning methods to decode cognitive states from recordings of brain activity (EEG, fMRI, MEG) and other data.
His academic career included positions as assistant professor in Data Science at Queen’s University Belfast, as senior researcher at Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Machine Learning, the world’s leading lab for applying machine learning to brain activity, and as post-doc at the Centre for Mind/Brain Sciences, University of Trento, Italy, one of Europe’s leading cognitive neuroscience centres. He has a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from Trinity College Dublin and prior to academia, worked in and co-founded web startups in Germany and China. Brian is a member of the Alzheimer’s Association EEG PIA committee and organised the MLINI series of workshops on machine learning with neuroimaging data at NeurIPS, the world’s leading machine learning conference.

Bill Byrom is a recognized leader in eClinical product strategy and electronic clinical outcome assessments with over 30 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. Bill specializes in clinical outcome assessments, sensor-based wearables, and technology-derived endpoints. His research explores COA application in oncology tolerability assessment, new COA measures, and frameworks for COA development from sensor-derived data. Bill consults with pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agencies on digital health initiatives. He has authored numerous publications, including two industry textbooks on ePRO, and serves on key industry committees: ISPOR task forces on ePROs and PerfOs, the C-Path Chronic Heart Failure working group, the EU-funded LABDA research program Executive Advisory Board, and the Duke University PARCR Project Advisory Board.
