As Director of Patient Recruitment, Shana is responsible for developing global patient recruitment, engagement and retention strategies. This includes understanding potential barriers and motivators for patients and sites, and recommending solutions, technologies and tactics to support study goals. Shana has more than 15 years’ experience working in human and animal health industries with 9 years’ experience at IQVIA.

Rebecca Sayers, PhD, Senior Director, Global Head, Site Enablement Solutions, IQVIA
Rebecca is the head of IQVIA’s Site Enablement Solutions team, a service offering from IQVIA’s Patient & Site Centric Solutions which allows sponsors to overcome site-level resourcing barriers by providing research-experienced research staff to support clinical trial protocols. Rebecca brings 14+ years in the clinical research industry to the role, with over a decade focused specifically on site engagement and enablement. With a keen view to the challenges facing global clinical trial sites, she combines her awareness of trial site challenges with her ability to draw on multidisciplinary CRO solutions to optimize site performance.

Sheela Gallardo, Senior Director, Medical Affairs, Global Delivery Head, Clinical Trial Educators, IQVIA
As Senior Director of Medical Affairs at IQVIA, Sheela Gallardo oversees the global resourcing and delivery of high-performing Clinical Trial Educator teams. Her role encompasses strategic development and deployment, tactical planning and execution, and key project and people management. Sheela supports the direction of all activities of the field-based medical team, ensuring alignment of clinical and scientific initiatives with strategic clinical study objectives. Additionally, she fosters collaboration among cross-functional teams to optimize study outcomes for clients.
Prior to joining IQVIA in 2008, Sheela held various leadership positions within the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on medical marketing, strategic integrated medical planning, clinical research, drug information, managed care, and government affairs. She also has extensive clinical and scientific research experience in Reproductive Endocrinology, Cardiovascular, Genetics, Immunology, and ophthalmology.
Sheela holds a Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Washington University in St. Louis and is currently completing her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Health Sciences Research from Trident University in Cypress, CA. She has numerous publications from her clinical and research work and has presented her findings at scientific and national industry meetings, discussing scientific results as well as the evolving role of field-based medical teams in the face of current compliance and regulatory challenges.

Antonia Cardew, Global Head of Delivery, Patient Recruitment and Enablement, IQVIA
As Head of Delivery for Patient Recruitment and Enablement, Antonia Cardew leads a team of Patient Recruitment Leads and specialist functions to manage and oversee the delivery of patient engagement strategies for clinical trials, including direct to patient outreach, site support materials and patient websites. Antonia has more than 14 years’ experience working in the medical communications and clinical trials industries, 12 of which at IQVIA.
