GMR Solutions operates air and ground ambulance services across the US, serving both emergency and non-emergency patient transport needs.
GMR Solutions Inc., the parent company of Global Medical Response, entered the public markets in May 2026.
Based in Lewisville, Texas, GMR priced 31.9 million shares of Class A common stock at $15 per share on May 12. Trading began on May 13 under the ticker symbol GMRS.
The listing put one of the country’s largest emergency medical services platforms in the public market. The offering raised about $479 million.
GMR’s work spans 911 response, air and ground medical transport, public event coverage and scheduled patient transfers between care settings.
The company operates an integrated network across approximately 1,400 counties, covering urban and rural communities that are home to more than 60% of the US population.

Most of GMR’s work involves emergent care. Its clinicians stabilize patients during life-threatening or time-sensitive events, including cardiac arrests, strokes and traumatic injuries, before transporting them to hospitals or specialized care centers when needed.
GMR also provides non-emergent care, such as scheduled medical transports between healthcare facilities or after hospital stays.
Emergency medical services are taking on a larger role in the healthcare system.
Fortune recently noted that the medical drama The Pitt reflects a real-world healthcare challenge. As hospitals and primary care practices face mounting pressure, many patients continue to treat the emergency room as their first stop, even when their needs may not require an ER visit.
CDC data show more than 155 million ER visits in the US in 2022, while the Commonwealth Fund has reported that nearly 200 rural hospitals have completely or partially closed since 2005 and more than 400 are at risk of closure.
That strain is particularly visible in rural areas and healthcare deserts, where hospital closures and long travel distances can make air and ground medical transport one of the fastest ways to reach specialized trauma or emergency care.
In late 2025, CMS announced $50 billion over five years through the Rural Health Transformation Program, including support for EMS communication, coordinated transfers, telehealth, treat-in-place options and other care models that bring services closer to home.

Beyond daily emergency calls, GMR also supports disaster response and large-scale medical transportation during national emergencies, when communities may need clinical teams, vehicles and aircraft deployed quickly.
The company has also developed tools to help manage the flow of medical requests more efficiently. Its Nurse Navigation program helps identify lower-acuity 911 calls that may not require an emergency department visit. When appropriate, patients can be directed to other care options, helping reserve ambulances and emergency departments for more serious cases.
GMR’s first quarterly results as a public company also gave investors an early look at its financial profile. In June, the company reported first-quarter 2026 net revenue of $1.46 billion, up 6.6% year over year, while net income rose to $106.3 million from $38 million a year earlier.
The GMR Solutions IPO brings a major emergency medical services company to the forefront at a time when healthcare leaders are paying closer attention to emergency care and how patients get treatment.
