Amazon Prime’s New One Medical Benefits Merge Tech and Healthcare

Amazon Prime members have access to One Medical's 24/7 virtual care and easy scheduling for in-person visits across the US.

Amazon has recently introduced a new Amazon Prime membership benefit aimed at delivering top-notch healthcare through One Medical, an Amazon company.

Amazon’s One Medical platform streamlines the process of accessing essential healthcare services, spanning from preventive care to addressing immediate health concerns and effectively managing chronic conditions such as diabetes.

“When it is easier for people to get the care they need, they engage more in their health and realize better health outcomes,” said Neil Lindsay, senior vice president, Amazon Health Services, in the company’s press release. “That’s why we are bringing One Medical’s exceptional experience to Prime members — it’s health care that makes it dramatically easier to get and stay healthy.”

This healthcare experience is thoughtfully crafted around the needs of customers, offering a responsive care team that is readily available to assist members whenever and wherever required.

What Do One Medical Benefits Offer?

Prime members can enjoy high-quality and convenient healthcare services through One Medical. Available 24/7, One Medical’s membership includes unlimited access to on-demand virtual care around the clock. This includes prompt video consultations with licensed healthcare providers, allowing members to address common concerns like colds, flu, skin issues, allergies, urinary tract infections and more with ease, thanks to the user-friendly “Treat Me Now” feature within the One Medical app. The app empowers members to receive healthcare from the comfort of their homes or while on the move, whether it’s addressing acute healthcare needs during unconventional hours or simply managing follow-up requirements and prescription renewals.

Prime members who opt for this new benefit and reside near a One Medical facility can effortlessly arrange same-day or next-day remote or in-person appointments at any of One Medical’s primary care offices across the US. One Medical is designed to cater to the needs of both patients and healthcare providers. This commitment is evident in the design of their inviting and well-appointed offices located throughout the US, punctual appointment start times, extended primary care appointment durations exceeding industry norms and the convenience of on-site labs.

“This new benefit is the latest example of how we’re making it easier for Prime members to take care of their health. Prime members also have exclusive access to benefits from Amazon Pharmacy, including RxPass, which lets members get as many eligible medications as they need for one flat fee of $5 per month and have them delivered free to their doors in two days or less, and Prime Rx, which helps members save up to 80 percent on prescriptions when not using insurance at Amazon Pharmacy and over 60,000 pharmacies nationwide,” said Jamil Ghani, vice president, Amazon Prime.

Price of Amazon One Medical Membership

Prime members can now enjoy One Medical’s on-demand virtual care and in-person primary care appointments for just $9 per month or a yearly rate of $99. Moreover, they have the option to include family members at a highly discounted rate of $66 per individual per year.

Prime members can visit health.amazon.com/prime or search for One Medical on Amazon.com, where they can secure a Prime One Medical membership for themselves and even extend the benefits to up to five additional family members. The convenient One Medical app is also available for download directly from One Medical.

Other Virtual Care Platforms Available in the Market

Numerous virtual care platforms are available in the market. CVS Caremark, a subsidiary of CVS Health that specializes in prescription benefit management, and GoodRx, a California-based healthcare company renowned for its telemedicine platform and a free-to-use website and mobile app that tracks prescription drug prices, have collaboratively introduced Caremark Cost Saver. This initiative is designed to alleviate the financial burden of pharmacy expenses for members of CVS Caremark’s client base. It simplifies the member experience, eliminating the need for time-consuming price comparisons, and ensures access to the most favorable prices.

Uber Technologies, Inc. (Uber), a well-known transportation company based in San Francisco, has also launched Uber Health. This comprehensive service covers a wide range of healthcare needs, from assisting individuals in reaching primary care appointments to facilitating access to essential prescriptions and groceries. By leveraging this technology, healthcare organizations can expand their service offerings, including the provision of transportation to primary care appointments, the delivery of prescription medications and the convenient doorstep delivery of healthy food options.
