About this webinar

Biological processes are shaped by changes across multiple molecular layers, including RNA and proteins, with no single layer telling the whole story. Integrating complementary modalities can provide a more complete view of health and disease, revealing cellular relationships and biological mechanisms that may be missed when analyzing individual data layers alone.

Join us for a multi-speaker webinar exploring how spatial proteomics can be integrated with spatial transcriptomics on the same tissue section to maximize biological insights from valuable tissue samples.

Phil Cheng, PhD, Geneva University Hospitals and University of Geneva, will share a workflow combining a 93-plex spatial proteomics antibody panel on the Akoya PhenoCycler-Fusion platform with Xenium spatial transcriptomics on the same tumor tissue section, highlighting practical considerations, image coregistration, and opportunities for deeper tissue characterization.

Sarp Uzun, MD, PhD, University Hospital Basel, will present his work on checkpoint inhibitor-induced liver injury (ChILI), using single-cell spatial proteomics, spatial transcriptomics, and bulk T-cell receptor sequencing to identify expanded cytotoxic CD8+ T-cell clones shared between liver and tumor and their interactions with macrophages.

Register to learn more about how to integrate spatial protein and RNA information and how it can reveal cellular interactions, disease mechanisms, and functional biology that may not be apparent from either modality alone. Attendees will gain practical insights into multimodal spatial workflows and learn how to unlock more information from every tissue section.

Phil Cheng, PhD

Bioinformatics Scientist · University of Geneva

Phil completed his PhD in Cancer Biology at the University of Zurich and continued with postdoctoral studies in Cancer Genomics. He is currently a Bioinformatician leading the Spatial Omics Lab of Prof. Olivier Michielin at the University of Geneva and Geneva University Hospitals, investigating spatial transcriptomic and proteomic biomarkers for cancer immunotherapy response.

For the past year, the team has been testing protocols to obtain the optimal conditions for Akoya PhenoCycler-Fusion and 10x Xenium on the same slide and co-registration workflows for multi modal analysis.

Sarp Uzun, MD, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow University Hospital Basel

Sarp was born in Adana, Turkey. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey, in 2020. In 2016, he enrolled in the MD-PhD program at the same university and received his PhD in 2021 from the Tumor Biology and Immunology PhD program.

In August 2021, Sarp joined the laboratory of Prof. Matthias Matter at the Institute for Medical Genetics and Pathology, University Hospital Basel, Switzerland, as a postdoctoral fellow. His research focuses on spatial characterization of adverse events caused by immune-checkpoint inhibitors, with a particular emphasis on the liver and gastrointestinal system.
